John McCarthy Treasurer Holmdel, New Jersey
John McCarthy works in the structured finance division of Standard & Poor’s where he specializes in structured credit products. He has worked in products across the asset-backed securities, asset-backed commercial paper, and collateralized debt obligations businesses since 2000. His primary area of focus is in credit derivatives and other derivative products such as interest rate and currency swaps.
Prior to joining S&P, Mr. McCarthy worked at Merrill Lynch, at Smith Barney (Shearson Lehman Brothers is now part of Citigroup), and at Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in various compensation and human resources management roles. Mr. McCarthy has an MBA from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University.
Mr. McCarthy has been active with the Children’s Tumor Foundation for many years, primarily as a participant in the NF Endurance Team program through which he has participated in events including the New York City Marathon, Race Across America, Jersey Shore Relay, and Antarctica Marathon and Half Marathon, among others. He has been a member of the board of directors of the Children's Tumor Foundation since 2009 and currently serves on the personnel, public education, and leadership development committees of the board. In his role as the Foundation's Treasurer, he is also on the executive committee and is the chairman of the fiscal affairs, audit, and investment committees of the board. Mr. McCarthy is married to Florence McCarthy, a member of the NF Endurance Team Advisory Board, and they reside at the sunny New Jersey Shore with their two daughters, Aidan and Alexandra. Aidan was diagnosed with NF1 when she was only four months old, and Florence and John have been active with the foundation since 2004.
