Ms. Martin’s professional experience includes representing clients such as UBS Securities LLC, JPMorgan Chase and Accenture in a variety of commercial disputes. Most recently she represented UBS in litigation arising from the Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing of LyondellBasell, the world’s third largest independent chemical company. Ms. Martin’s trial and arbitration experience also includes obtaining a $370 million verdict against Motorola on behalf of JPMorgan Chase in a breach of guarantee contract action; representing Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) in connection with its winning bid to obtain a cost-free separation from the Andersen Worldwide organization in one of the largest ICC arbitrations in history; and representing Korean conglomerate the Hanwha Group in its successful multi-billion dollar dispute with the Korean government. Ms. Martin has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Children’s Tumor Foundation since 2007, and currently serves as Secretary and an Officer of the Board. She also chairs the Organizational Integrity and Legal Affairs Committee and serves on the Executive, Leadership Development and Volunteer Relations Committees. In addition to her work with the Children’s Tumor Foundation, Ms. Martin is an officer of the Board of Directors of the Law Alumni Association of Duke University School of Law, for which she also serves as Chairperson of the Regional Alumni Affairs Committee. Within Simpson Thacher, Ms. Martin is a member of the Recruiting, Women’s and Technology Committees, and heads the litigation department’s Continuing Legal Education committee. Ms. Martin received her Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Harvard University in 1988, and received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Duke University School of Law. Ms. Martin is married to Timothy Martin, and they have three sons, Brian, Timmy, and Kevin. Her youngest son, Kevin, was diagnosed with NF1 in 2000, at the age of 2. She has been actively involved with the Foundation in a variety of capacities since that time. |
