Mark Ebel is Associate General Counsel at Newmont Mining Corporation, one of the world’s largest producers of gold, and the only gold company included in the S&P 500 Index and Fortune 500.   Newmont has significant assets or operations in the United States, Australia, Peru, Indonesia, Ghana, Canada, New Zealand and Mexico.  In 2007, Newmont became the first gold company selected to be part of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index.  Prior to joining Newmont, Mr. Ebel was the CFO and General Counsel of Eyeris, Inc., a Denver-based software company that builds profitability analysis applications for Fortune 500 telecommunications and transportation companies.

Prior to joining Eyeris, Mr. Ebel was a Partner in the Corporate and Securities Departments of Holland & Hart, LLP, a 350-lawyer firm that is the largest law firm based in the Rocky Mountain region. At Holland & Hart, Mr. Ebel represented both issuers and underwriters in domestic and international public and private stock offerings ranging in size from $1M to $250M. He also represented several venture capital firms, and numerous portfolio companies, in a variety of high-tech venture capital financings. His M&A practice included stock purchases, asset purchases, joint ventures, mergers, spin-offs, leveraged buy-outs and going private transactions ranging in size from $1M to over $1B. Mr. Ebel also has significant expertise in technology transfer transactions (licensing agreements, joint ventures, development agreements, etc.), lending transactions, real estate transactions, entity formation, corporate governance and Hart-Scott-Rodino antitrust filings.

Mr. Ebel joined the Colorado Chapter of the Children's Tumor Foundation in 2000 after his son, Davis, was diagnosed with NF. He became President of the Colorado Chapter in 2001, a role that he still holds today. In addition, Mr. Ebel served as President of the Children's Tumor Foundation’s nationwide Chapter and Affiliate Network from 2006-2008. He joined the national Board of CTF in 2009, and currently chairs the Volunteer Relations Committee, in addition to serving on the Fiscal Affairs Committee.

Mr. Ebel received his Bachelor of Arts from Duke University, and his Juris Doctor from Stanford. He is married to Catherine Laskey, and they have three sons, Davis, Garrison and Oliver.
