Tara Flanagan Skirzenski Mendham, New Jersey
Tara Skirzenski enjoyed an active career in banking and brokerage focusing on marketing, community public relations, retail sales, and operations management at institutions including Wachovia, Merrill Lynch and NatWest Bank.
In 1999, she stepped away from corporate America and embraced a new venture as a stay-at-home mother and community volunteer. Actively engaged in the non-profit community during her years of corporate service, Mrs. Skirzenski now applies her time and experience to the Children’s Tumor Foundation where she has served on the National Board of Directors since 2006. She currently chairs the Government Affairs Committee in addition to serving on the Volunteer Relations, Personnel, and Public Awareness and Education committees. Tara has served as President and Vice President of the National Chapter and Affiliate Council, the volunteer leadership arm of the
Children’s Tumor Foundation, and is an active volunteer in its New Jersey Chapter.
Tara is married to David Skirzenski and they have two children, Mary Katherine and Brennan. Their family enjoys life in the small town of Mendham, New Jersey. Together, they work to honor the memory of Bernadette Flanagan Tardio and Edward Flanagan, sister and father to Tara, who are both deceased as a result of NF2. As a family, they are part of the NF Endurance Team, participating in marathons and half-marathons as far away as Alaska, to raise funds for and awareness of NF. Tara is also active in her local church and school communities teaching Confraternity of Christian Doctrine and chairing various HSA committees.
