Drug Discovery Initiative

A Preclinical Consortium, Grant Awards and Toolbox to Accelerate Candidate NF Drug Screening

There is currently no effective drug treatment for neurofibromatosis (NF). To help change that, the Drug Discovery Initiative (DDI) funds and facilitates preclinical screening of candidate treatments for NF.

DDI NF Preclinical Consortium: An ongoing $7M program to accelerate the identification of effective drug therapies, testing candidate NF drugs in multiple tumor models of NF. For more information, please click here.

Drug Discovery Initiative (DDI) Awards: Individual grants to fund pilot-stage preclinical drug testing.

NEW for 2012 DDI Amounts INCREASED!

- $30,000 for in vitro drug testing/screens

- $50,000 for in vivo drug testing/screens

DDI Advanced Awards: Advanced in vivo funding of up to $75,000. Applications accepted only by invitation from CTF, from individuals who have previously received an in vivo DDI Award. For more information contact CTF

2011 DDI Award deadlines:
- February 28, 2012
- August 31, 2012

DDI Toolbox: An online listing of ‘tools’ and partnering forum for NF drug screening. If you have an NF screening model (cells, animal models) – or a drug you’d like to see tested for NF efficacy – submit them for listing in the DDI Toolbox. Click here to see the latest Toolbox listings.

Toolbox Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis
