NF Walk Program - Purpose
The Children’s Tumor Foundation’s NF Walk Program was established in 2009 as an important national fundraising program to support NF research, raise awareness, and provide support for individuals with NF and their families.  A key feature of the Walk program is that it is a community-based event, organized by local volunteers, with teams comprised of five to ten members.  The NF Walk offers the opportunity for those affected by NF, their families, friends and neighbors, in fact, whole communities, to join together in what is a truly enjoyable event, while raising funds for NF research.

NF Walk Program – Core Values

The NF Walk program is committed to serving and supporting our teammates professionally and compassionately.  Our goal is to make each Walk the best experience possible – one that is enjoyable, fulfilling and inspirational.  We are with you every step of the way in our shared mission – “ending neurofibromatosis through research”.

NF Walk Program – Statistics

The table below shows the Walk Program's impressive growth over the past three years.

What We’ve Accomplished in Three Years with Your Support
  • Together, we have more than tripled the number of events, quadrupled the number of participants, and tripled the amount of money raised.
  • Together, we have taken more than three billion steps across the US.
  • Together, we have raised over $1 million dollars for NF research.
  • Together, we have dramatically raised NF awareness nationwide.

Ending Neurofibromatosis Through Research

Much progress has been made in NF research in the past three years, and the Walk Program has played a considerable role in helping the Children’s Tumor Foundation function as the largest non-government funder of NF research.  Monies raised through Walks support the Foundation’s comprehensive research programs.  One million dollars, for example, can fund 10 Clinical Research Awards, 15 Advanced Drug Discovery Awards, or provide significant support for our 44-member Clinic Network.  It is the work do that will help lead to effective treatments for NF and eventually, someday, and end to the

disorder.

Get Involved – It’s Easy!!

  • Program support – The Children’s Tumor Foundation staff works closely with volunteers to coordinate Walk logistics and organize fundraising efforts, including assistance with the online fundraising process.
  • Walk locations – Walks are held at parks, schools or tracks in your own community.
  • Walk distance – up to three miles, depending on location, but that’s up to you.
  • Participation – NF Walks are open to all ages and abilities.  Participants can walk, or they can also watch and cheer everyone on.  Or you can assist in set-up, event-day registration and other planned activities.

An NF Walk is fun, educational, and inspirational.  It’s a celebration of hope and of the accomplishments and abilities of those living with NF.  Whether you have NF, know someone who does, or just want to show your support, come and join an NF Walk in your community!

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
