Family Funds PDF Print E-mail

You can establish an ongoing partnership with the Children's Tumor Foundation by establishing a Family Fund. A Family Fund is a program in which your family, friends, and business associates can make gifts to the Foundation, which are credited to your family. Some families choose to write to their prospective donor lists each year requesting a contribution. Others do a Holiday card appeal requesting gifts to the Family Fund in lieu of presents. Still others hold special events and fundraisers in the name of their family fund. Reply envelopes and other materials and assistance are available for your convenience.

To find out more about establishing a Family Fund, please call the Development Office at (800) 323-7938 ext 230 or email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

When one person in a family has been diagnosed with neurofibromatosis, everyone in the family is affected. Because of this, families make up a large part of the Children's Tumor Foundation picture. As we work together to raise the funds needed to search for treatments and a cure for NF1, NF2 and schwannomatosis, some of the most effective heartfelt efforts supporting the Children's Tumor Foundation are from families. Through Family Funds, friends and colleagues can join your family members to establish a partnership that can significantly help to move the Children's Tumor Foundation's work forward. Personal family networks are highly valued resources and deeply respected with regard to confidentiality.

These Family Funds are defined as follows:

A fund can be initiated with a single gift of cash or securities, or it can be started with an aggregated amount from a series of gifts from many individuals, such as tributes or memorials.
In the case of an aggregated amount, the creator of the fund provides Children's Tumor Foundation with a defined list of the Fund's contributors. From this point forward, all gifts from the individuals listed will be attributed to the designated Fund unless otherwise noted by the donor.
Children's Tumor Foundation can produce and mail Family Fund annual appeal letters for the families if requested.
Annual contributions are made in cash or securities, unless the annual contribution comes from a planned gift that guarantees an annual income to the Foundation.
Each Family Fund is named by its creator, with the family's name, for a loved one who has neurofibromatosis, in memory of a beloved individual, or an inspirational name.
Family Funds can, but are not required to, designate their contributions to a program area of choice. Undesignated funds will be used by the Foundation to support its full range of programs, from research to services for patients and families to public education. Family Funds will not be used for operating expenses.
All Family Funds will be listed in Children's Tumor Foundation's annual reports, unless directed otherwise.
All contributors to Family Funds will be identified to the family that created the fund. Due to donor requests for confidentiality, individual gift amounts will not be provided, but total fund balances will be reported annually or any time upon request of the family.
