MTV True Life: I have NF PDF Print E-mail

On Monday, April 12, MTV aired an episode of it's True Life series titled I have NF, we welcome your interest in learning more about neurofibromatosis (NF).  The Children’s Tumor Foundation is the leading non-government funding source of NF research and is dedicated to bettering the lives of those living with the disorder.

As you have seen, living with NF is living with uncertainty.  NF causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body, half of all those affected have no family history of the disorder. True Life: I have NF portrays three individuals who are struggling with particularly difficult manifestations of the disorder.  NF can take many forms and affects each individual living with the disorder in different ways.  Some people living with NF have only a few marks on their skin, known as café au lait spots, without any other signs of the disorder.  Others living with NF face extreme challenges including cancer, blindness, deafness, disfigurement, paralysis, and severe learning disabilities.  In some cases the manifestations of NF may be fatal.

At the Children’s Tumor Foundation we fund critical research to provide treatments and someday a cure to NF.  Research the Foundation funds is shedding new light on cancer, brain tumors, learning disabilities, and bone abnormalities; ultimately benefiting the broader community in addition to those with NF.

We invite you to look through our site, learn more about NF and the many ways you can help make a difference in the lives of Philip, Amber, Bekha, and the millions of people worldwide living with the disorder.  Email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
