I. TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE

Air Charity Network is a non profit organization comprised of pilots, volunteers and staff dedicated to serving the community by facilitating free private air transportation for medical patients who cannot afford commercial travel. Their passengers are patients who have to travel long distances for evaluation, diagnosis and treatment that are not locally available.

The Medical Transportation Reimbursement Fund (The "MOTOR Fund") was established to provide assistance to those that need to travel an extended distance for medical reasons, whether it be for surgery, pre-surgical appointments, follow-up appointments etc.

National Patient Travel Center (NPTC) exists to facilitate patient access to appropriate charitable medical air transportation in the US.

Miracle Flights for Kids is a non-profit medical flight organization dedicated to helping very sick children overcome financial obstacles that prevent them from getting access to the correct medical care and treatment.  Miracle Flights for Kids strives to forge the necessary alliances with pilots, commercial airlines and sponsors to provide the means to get our kids to and from treatment. Mercy Medical Airlift is a national charitable organization providing air transportation to people in medical and financial crisis.

II. SURGICAL & MEDICAL CARE 

Angels of the OR is a charitable organization which provides neurosurgical care for patients with no insurance, personal funds or ability to pay for treatment.

Operation Access serves uninsured individuals who do not have the means to pay for outpatient surgery.

Chain of Hope provides children in developing nations with access to life-threatening surgery and treatment.

The House of Charity provides donated medical and surgical treatment to children of all nationalities from impoverished backgrounds locally, nationwide and internationally. The House of Charity is based in Houston, TX and focuses on caring for children 18 years and younger.

The National Brain Tumor Foundation provides grants of up to $1,000 to financially needy families through its Patient Help Fund.  Grants can be used to help with treatment-related expenses (co-pays for doctor visits, medications, referrals, costs for transportation,etc.) Patients must be 18 years or older with a primary or metastatic brain tumor and must be recieving treatment at one of the National Brain Tumor Foundation's partner institutions. Bureau of Children with Medical Handicaps (BCMH) assists Ohio residents under age 21 with finding medical services and paying for medical bills. For more information, contact them at (740) 368-1700.

AMANF (Brazil) runs a multidiciplinary NF reference center at the Federal University of Minas Oeizais that provides free medical care to NF patients in Brazil and other South American Countries.

The Harris County Hospital District (HCHD) in Houston TX has an adult genetics clinic that provides genetics services and coordination of care to uninsured/underinsurred patients who qualify. Contact Maria Blazo at the Texas Children's Hospital for information: 832-822-4280.

The Haiti Foundation Against Poverty provides food, clothing, shelter and medical assistance to the needy in Haiti.

First Hand Foundation helps children with health-related needs when insurance and other financial resources have been exhausted.

Healing the Children provides medical services to children throughout the US and abroad who do not have access to care. Healing the Children has Chapter Officesin several US States.  See their webiste for contact information.

III. TEMOPRARY HOUSING

The Ronald McDonald House Charities provide a "home away from home" for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.

Saint Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Boston, Massachusetts operates the Philoxenia House for patients who come to Boston for medical care but do not have a place to stay.  For more information, contact the Parish at: (617) 277-4742.

The Boston Hospital Housing Network is a coalition of organizations that provide a diverse range of housing options for patients and their families when they travel to Boston for medical care.

IV. HEALTH INSURANCE ADVOCACY

The Let Them Hear Foundation's Insurance Advocacy Program assists individuals who have either received a written denial for hearing impairment treatment or who have an insurance plan that does not cover hearing impairment treatment. 

 
V. DISCOUNTED PRESCRIPTION DRUGS

Together Rx Access offers a free prescription-savings card for eligible residents of the United States and Puerto Rico who have no prescription drug coverage.

VI. SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Anne Ford Scholarship

The Anne Ford Scholarship is a $10,000 scholarship awarded by the National Center for Learning Disabilities to a high school senior with a learning disability who can act as a role model for others who are faced with learning disabilities and who has the potential of contributing to society in a way that increases opportunities for all people with learning disabilities.  The Yes I Can! Foundation for Exceptional Children

 The Yes I Can! Foundation for Exceptional Children offers the Stanley E. Jackson Scholarships and Sara Conlon Memorial Scholarship. Each scholarship is $500 for first year college students with a disability. US citizenship is required. Ralph G. Norman Scholarship

Learning Disabilities Association of Iowa

The Learning Disabilities Association of Iowa awards three $1,000 scholarships to Iowa high school seniors with learning disabilities. The deadline is in mid-March.
 
P. Buckley Moss Society Harbison Scholarship

The Anne and Matt Harbison Scholarship is awarded by the P. National Society of the DAR/Margaret Howard Hamilton Scholarship

Recording for the Blind/Learning through Listening
This program provides three scholarships of $3,000 each for high school seniors who are learning disabled. The award is based on academic achievement, leadership, enterprise, and service to others.
