WHO WE ARE

We are a charity based endurance team where participants can join in events around the country to raise awareness and research dollars that enable treatments and a cure for neurofibromatosis.

Unlike other charity based teams, we structure our fundraising system on incentives, not contracts. Participants are encouraged to fundraise through contributions made to a personalized Web site and donations sent by mail.

OUR MISSION

In support of the Children's Tumor Foundation, NF Endurance offers the opportunity for individuals to participate in team endurance sports to raise money for research, promote awareness, and provide a network of caring support for those suffering with neurofibromatosis and their families.

A BRIEF HISTORY

Anita Carter formed the NF Marathon Team as part of the National Neurofibromatosis Foundation, (which became the Children's Tumor Foundation in 2005) in the late 90s. Carter's son had NF1. The team was created as a fundraising arm and awareness generation tool for the foundation. In 2007 the NF Marathon Team became NF Endurance to encompass a variety of events and participants. The team has raised more than $4 million in revenue since 2004.

OUR PROGRAM

Our program provides opportunities and support to run or walk marathons and half marathons, and also or participate in triathlons and long-distance bike rides. Here are some benefits available by joining our team:

• Team encouragement, community and friendship
• A connection with a local "NF Hero" whose courage provides inspiration
• An invitation to a pasta dinner (at staffed scheduled events) before an event to celebrate your hard work and share in the NF Family experience

Here's how it works:

1. Select an event suitable to your interests and register online both for the race event here. There are some exceptions to signing up on the event Web site. If you have questions, please contact us here.

2. After signing up for the team and the event, you ask for sponsorship donations from friends, family and community members.
