TRG, Kenny Wallace and Racing4Research Team Up for Rolex 24 at Daytona Petaluma, CA (October 15, 2010) - Continuing TRG’s strong heritage as the premier team at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, TRG and the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF) have agreed to partner for the Racing4Research program at the 2011 race. This is the first time the Children’s Tumor Foundation will run with the team, and the first of several upcoming announcements for the three-time winners of the event. Developed by the Children’s Tumor Foundation, Racing4Research raises money to benefit neurofibromatosis (NF) research through corporate sponsorship, personal donations, and individual fund raising. Each lap the Children’s Tumor Foundation completes raises funds for critical research and patient support at more than 40 NF Clinics nationwide, and brings awareness to the importance of the cause. Daytona 24 veterans Ron Yarab, Daniel Graeff, and Pierre Bourque will be joined by NASCAR star Kenny Wallace as the Children’s Tumor Foundation team seeks to exceed $1 million in total donations since its founding in 2007. For Ron Yarab, returning to TRG as part of such a notable program is an exciting venture. “I’m really looking forward to returning to Daytona with the 2011 Racing4Research program” stated Yarab. “Our 2010 program was a huge success, and to bring it under the TRG tent will add a new level of both on-track performance and fan engagement. The work really begins now to get this program moving forward, and I hope we can have a more successful year than ever before.” Known for his nine wins in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, as a colorful host of numerous SPEED programs, as well as a three-time recipient of the Nationwide Series’ “Most Popular Driver Award,” Kenny Wallace will be joining the team for his second Rolex 24. As a relative newcomer to sportscar racing, Wallace, a long-time supporter of the Children’s Tumor Foundation, has run numerous NASCAR programs with the CTF logo, so joining the organization’s sportscar program was the next logical step. “I am really honored to help represent the Children’s Tumor Foundation, it’s very near and dear to my heart,” stated Wallace. “Along the way I’m a competitor, a winning race driver, and it’s fun to team up with a winning organization like TRG. They present a strong team and know how to win, it should be a great event.” 2011 will be the organization’s strongest program yet, with multiple ways for donors to get involved, from regional fundraisers, to race experiences, to memorabilia auctions, and a possible live webcast in which TRG and CTF will engage the fans live during all 24 hours of the event. For Team Owner Kevin Buckler, the linking of TRG with Racing4Research is an opportunity to demonstrate the organization’s commitment to worthwhile causes. “This is a very cool project and we are honored that CTF has chosen our team,” stated Buckler. “The Racing4Research program with the Children’s Tumor Foundation is a great cause that I’m proud to be a part of. As a father of three, I can only imagine how helpful a group like CTF is for those in need, and we want to give them all the support we can.” For more information on ways to get involved, visit www.racing4research.org, or visit www.theracersgroup.com. TRG was founded in 1993 and has been competing at the top level of motor racing ever since. The team has the three wins and 16 podiums in the ALMS, as well as the most wins of any team in the Grand-Am Rolex Series with 30, including the 2005 and 2006 Rolex Series GT championship trophy to go along with wins at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. TRG is based in Petaluma, California, near its home track of Infineon Raceway in Sonoma. The company’s NASCAR operation is based in Mooresville, North Carolina and competes in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and fields the No. 71 TRG Motorsports Chevrolet Impala SS. TRG is also developing a new state-of-the-art motorsports complex at the New Jersey Motorsports Park that should be finished in early 2011. The Children’s Tumor Foundation is the recipient of a four-star rating from Charity Navigator. The Foundation is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of more than 100,000 Americans living with neurofibromatosis (NF). Their research program has played a key role in the discovery of the genes that cause NF, understanding the biology of NF, creation of the NF Clinic Network, and preclinical screening of drug compounds that appear promising in treating the disorder.
