Carson Rowe PDF Print E-mail

CARSON.jpg      Baxter Rowe and his wife Marci first noticed the brown spots on Carson in 2008. “We thought they were birth marks or freckles but my wife noticed that they got bigger,” said Baxter. They searched the Internet and discovered that such marks could be called cafe-au-lait spots, a symptom of neurofibromatosis.
Marci then took Carson to the pediatrician. The pediatrician told her about NF and they were referred to a specialist. Carson had a 54 percent chance of having NF.
While Carson’s symptoms seem to be under control, Baxter and Marci continue to hope for positive outcomes. “We are not looking forward, but we are praying for the same outcome,” says Baxter. They continue to research NF.
The Rowe’s were particularly touched by a video on YouTube which showed the different experiences that a girl named Carly had had with NF. “When I watched her videos, which were posted by her mother, I realized how serious this disorder is and I knew we needed to help find a cure,” says Baxter. “That is when I found the NF Endurance Team on the Children's Tumor Foundation Web site. I look forward to being a part of the team and helping in the fight against NF.”
