The Panasonic New York City Triathlon is an Olympic-distance triathlon: 1.5-kilometer (0.93-mile) swim, 40-kilometer (24.8-mile) bike, 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) run. Each year, thousands of athletes brave the waters of the mighty Hudson River before biking along Manhattan's West Side highway.
