Children’s National Medical Center Fun Family Day for NF

With the support of the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF), the Gilbert Institute for Neurofibromatosis (NF) at Children’s National Health System is hosting a fun family day to support children and families with NF.

  • Interact with clinicians and researchers 
  • Experts will discuss medically relevant topics like MEK, autism, scoliosis, and ONG
  • Specialists will orient families to ongoing research projects and new programs like family support groups and webinars.
  • Fun activities for children with NF and their siblings! (Children aged 4 and above)
    • Neuroscience activities
    • Games
    • Yoga
    • Scavenger hunt  
  • Adolescent children
    • Tour a research lab plus all of the above

Adults can attend informational sessions in the morning about ongoing research studies, community resources, MEKi trials, non pharmacological interventions for cognitive deficits, and the link between NF and Autism. The information sessions will be hosted by Dr. Acosta, Dr. Bornhurst, Dr. Hardy, and Dr. Stasheff. There will also be other NF experts there to answer your questions. Once information sessions conclude, parents will be invited into the main atrium to join their children for lunch and neuroscience activities.
