Your Voice Was Heard: $25 Million for NF Research Proposed in New House Bill

The House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations has released its draft report for the Fiscal Year 2026 defense spending bill – and it includes $25 million in funding for NF research through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP).

This is a hopeful and hard-earned step forward. After NF research funding was unexpectedly cut in the FY25 cycle, the NF community responded with urgency, unity, and an unwavering voice. This proposal is a direct result of that effort – proof that advocacy and persistence matter.

If enacted, this funding will help protect vital clinical trials already underway and open the door to new research that could improve – and save – lives.

We’re not across the finish line yet. The bill will be marked up by the full House Appropriations Committee on Thursday, June 12, and must still pass through the full House and Senate processes before it becomes law. But today, we’re grateful for this momentum and for every advocate who helped make it possible.

We’ll keep you updated as the process continues – and thank you for standing with us every step of the way.
