Stories of NF: Terri B.

By November 13, 2018January 17th, 2024Story of NF

I was diagnosed with NF2 in 1997. I have had 5 surgeries and 2 Gamma Knife procedures, the most recent being in March 25, 2018.

I refuse to be labeled by my condition. I am simply a person who has to go through some unpleasant times. To call living with NF2 a challenge would be an understatement, however, it has made me a more spiritual and aware person. I have had a successful career thanks mostly to a caring family and wonderful coworkers.

My husband has been there for every doctor visit and refused to let me feel sorry for myself or have negative thoughts. My daughter has been there for every MRI and has become a huge advocate for the Children’s Tumor Foundation as well as a huge supporter of “her mama.” I have become closer to my son, who lives 800 miles away, and for all these things I have been blessed.

I have been there to encourage newly diagnosed patients which in turn has helped to encourage myself as well.

I am retired now but most of my career was in broadcasting, mostly radio, then I had my own advertising agency. I love to play golf with my family and friends and plan to do a lot of traveling.
