When I was one year old, I had a pediatrician appointment. The doctor noticed that I had café au lait spots from my armpit to my groin area. Every appointment after that, the doctor kept counting my spots and looking to see if the spots were growing. Early on, I was delayed in walking, speaking, and potty training. In early education, I had a learning disability.
My learning disability has affected my reading and communication skills. It has been difficult for me to read and understand, so I listened to lots of audiobooks. I attended college, and it was very challenging! I had very limited assistance from college professors, and received no extra assistance in my college educational plans. I have constant back pain, and it’s difficult for me to stand for long periods. As far as how NF will impact my future, I am unsure, but I will always wonder if/when I have children, will they have NF, or will it be difficult for my child to deal with me having NF as an older adult.
As a competitive swimmer, I can remember how embarrassed I was when people stared at my tumors that were visible outside on my swimsuit. I remember telling some people quickly that I have tumors and have NF, to look it up as to what it is.
I was a competitive swimmer for more than 10 years. My first job was as a lifeguard at a city pool. I was a high school and college cheerleader. I studied graphic design in college, and I love to travel. I am currently working at a Winery/Orchard. Snuggling and playing with my dog Ziggy makes me happy.

Dream Superpower
My superpower would be having wings, so that I could fly above all the crazy drivers. I have anxiety so bad about driving that I don’t drive. Plus, I love to travel, and I could fly to my favorite destinations.
Favorite Food
Nachos. Meat and cheese only, extra meat!
Fun Fact
I love butterflies! They make me think of loved ones in heaven. Also, I attended a Beyoncé concert in London, England.
