$25M for Neurofibromatosis Research

By June 21, 2022December 4th, 2023Advocacy, Awareness

Neurofibromatosis ResearchJust announced at the NF Conference in Philadelphia: Today, the House Committee on Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense released its report accompanying its FY 2023 spending bill, which includes $25 MILLION FOR NEUROFIBROMATOSIS RESEARCH! This is a $5 million increase over last year’s level. Our campaign to Make NF Visible is having a great impact! This funding will support the work of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program – NF Research Program (CDMRP-NFRP), which has driven innovative and groundbreaking neurofibromatosis research since 1996. Continued federal support for this program will lead to new scientific discoveries and improved outcomes for NF patients. This achievement is a direct result of the advocacy and outreach efforts of the Children’s Tumor Foundation and the NF community.

This is promising news for the NF community, and the bill still needs to make its way through the legislative process. We will provide updates on the bill's development as it progresses through Congress. Congratulations to all on this milestone to End NF.
