Patient Advocacy Changes How Government Funds Research

By October 2, 2012December 5th, 2023Advocacy, Awareness

Interesting article on sciencedaily.com:  “Disease Politics and Medical Research Funding: Three Ways Advocacy Shapes Policy,” a paper published in the October issue of the American Sociological Review, Rachel Kahn Best analyzed data on 53 diseases over a 19-year period from 1989-2007.

This article summarizes the first paper I have seen analyzing data on advocacy groups impact on federal funding.  It is particularly timely as we face challenges in continued federal funding of NF research through NIH and the CDMRP.  Please visit our Advocacy page for more info on what we are doing to preserve these important programs.
