On January 24, 2016, nearly 2,000 runners and walkers, adults and kids, all took their mark at the 4th Annual Kaiser Permanente Carmel Valley 5K and Fun Run to raise money for the local schools and select nonprofit organizations, include the Children’s Tumor Foundation.

CTF National Board Member Rob Brainin crossed the finish line with his children Charles and Ellie, who at 6 years old lives with NF2, and took a moment to tell ABC News reporter Melissa Mecija all about the day:

“We’ve certainly had some challenges… it’s tough for a six year old, it’s been tough for us as a family, but Ellie’s spirit is just so great. Folks at Carmel Valley have been great, we’re lucky to live in a community where people really support us.”
